Finished Projects = Rewards for Rosie

So I've made myself a little "deal."  I'm on a "spending freeze".... that is, unless I start finishing some projects. :-)  Well, I've managed to crank out a few over the past few days, and I've been quite pleased with myself.

Our receptionist at work is about ready to pop (lol) and we had a little "shower" for her on Thursday before she goes out on maternity leave.  Trying to save a few bucks, I thought I could make a card for her.  I had been DYING to try a spinner card and there is one in the Silhouette Online Store by Lori Whitlock that looked like an easy starter one.  I did a little searching online on how to do this all as a PNC (print-and-cut) and came across Lorrie's blog from Lorie's Story where she did a video demonstrating how to design the card as well as how to assemble it.  Total lifesaver!!  Only problem was that I wanted to do a 5x7 card (since there were going to be so many people signing it), and I also wanted to use some digi papers that I got over at Designer Digitals that were oh so cute!  I had to do a little fussing, plus a bit of re-designing to get it to do the PNC using my plain ink-jet printer.  Unfortunately, I don't have a wide format printer... yet!  Hopefully Santa is getting the hints I've been dropping and he'll bring me one for Christmas :-)  When all was said and done, it came together beautifully and I was REALLY happy with it.  If you're interested in how exactly I got this card to do a PNC on a regular inkjet printer, let me know and I can do a video :-)

RECIPE:

  • Recollections Cream Cardstock (base)
  • Digi Paper - Baby Buddies (patterned)
  • Ribbon from stash
  • Brad from stash

Second mega project I got done was two of my rose bouquets for Hubby's grandma.  I guess she loved hers so much from Mother's Day, that should couldn't wait to get a couple of them for her niece and neighbor as little "Thinking of You" gifts.  She requested one like hers with the purple roses but with "Niece" etched on it and hummingbirds (got the cuts from the Silhouette store), and the second one with yellow roses, her girlfriend's name on it, and the same butterflies as hers.  Thankfully I saved that file in CCR so all I had to do was go in and change the name :-)  Sometimes it pays to be a bit on the OCD side.

Last project I managed to crank out started out as a "practice" project, but it came out so cute I just had to turn it into a card :-)

I got the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set from Stampin' Up from a gal in a group I belong to on Facebook.  I know it's very trator-ish of me to have changed teams for a project, but I couldn't resist the rose stamp.  I couldn't wait to try out my new technique of using colored pencils and Gamsol to color in a stamp.  I think I've managed to conquer my fear of coloring :-)  I really can't afford Copics, and haven't ordered any of the new markers from CTMH yet, so this is definitely the next best thing!

RECIPE:

  • Recollections White Cardstock (base) - 5" x 7"
  • Core'dinations sandable cardstock from JoAnn's
  • Patterned paper from stash (can't remember the name... sorry)
  • Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral (rose) and CTMH For Everyday Occasion - D1187 (sentiment)
  • Ribbon from stash
So...... since I was SUCH a good girl in finishing some projects, AND Hubby has been in a "Let's Spoil the Wifey" mode... I did a bit of shopping :-) I was going to do a video, but I've had a headache since yesterday and it's late.  Would not have made for a good video... lol.

CTMH:

All with the exception of my CTMH haul was under pressure from the HUBBY!  For some unknown reason (not that I'm complaining), he had this grand idea of taking me out shopping.  Still wondering what he wants.... Lol.

The CTMH haul came from my Upline Consultant as my "reward" for hitting my sales for last quarter.  It was REALLY hard to narrow my purchase down, but I managed to grab what I REALLY wanted :-)  I'm already putting together yet another order for sometime this month of some more of the new Idea Book goodies.

Now it's time to get back to creating.... Until later :-)

    1. Thanks Hun! I've started that whole "buy more than you use" habit, so I'm trying to use up some stuff before buying more :-) Unfortunately, I'm still buying faster than I can create... Lol. That's the problem with such great deals at J's and M's. He he he. Thanks for stopping by.
