Finally... Hubby Found Something!

With me being as crafty as I am, I ALWAYS seem to be in my office working on something.  Whether it's cards, layouts, sewing, embroidery, knitting, or editing photos... I spend almost every evening working in my little "cave" until the wee hours of the night.  Hubby, on the other hand, has very few hobbies... none of which are very "productive."  Movies, music, and video games are the big three, but he also likes to cook and read.  Every weekend, when I have the most amount of time to spend in my "cave," Hubby drives me NUTS because he's got nothing to do.  Especially lately, with the weather here in Cleveland, it's been lousy on the weekends which makes it hard to get outside to do "guy stuff." He gets bored with video games and usually ends up falling asleep on the couch watching a movie.  Lol. I've been praying that he could find something to occupy his downtime like crafting does for me.  Something that would excite him the same way a sale at J's or M's does for me :-)  Today, my prayers were answered.

I've been working on a project (which I will definitely post once it's done) and really needed a Dad-like Cricut image.  Searched thru all 50+ of my carts and couldn't find ANYTHING that he that would work.  I had been looking at the Cricut Father's Day Seasonal Cartridge for sometime, but never bought it thinking I wouldn't use it.  Bid on it a few times on eBay but never won it, and actually haven't seen it in any of my local stores, so I gave up on it and put it out of my head.  While looking for an image to use, I showed Hubby the cart online and he actually SCOLDED me for having not have gotten it yet!!  Wow, I've never been scolded by him for not spending money on craft stuff  LOL!  HE actually called our local J's to see if they by chance had it, and sure enough they did.  Hop in the car and we were off to go get it.  Grabbed my 20% my entire purchase coupon from the mailer I got the other day and we were on our way.  Now mind you, we went in just to get this cart, but we ended up with all this....

More paper... as if I needed it after yesterday
Hubby actually walked me down to the scrapbooking aisle and wanted me to pickup some papers that had a "guy feel" to them.  Lol.  I think he was more excited about this shopping trip than I was.  He was trying to explain to me something about using watercolor pencils for coloring in my stamps and we wandered over to the art department looking for a couple of things.  Low and behold we somehow ended up in the wood aisle (ya know.. where all the unfished wooden things are) and I caught him looking at a woodburning kit.  I would have NEVER pegged him for someone intersted in woodburning, but apparently he used to do it many, many, MANY years ago when he was in FFA in highschool.  He just lost his equipment over the years and never picked it back up.  Well.... may I present to you....

Hubby's First Haul!!!

All his goodies to get started woodburning again
I couldn't believe it!  He spent more than I did at MY "mothership"!!!!!!!  Lol.  He got a mid-grade burning kit with all kinds of tips and stuff (I know NOTHING about this craft), some tracing paper, a sketch pad, a wood blank to eventually make a sign for his step-dad for Father's Day, and a bunch of little blanks to practice on.  I've NEVER seen him this excited about something that didn't involve blowing people up on the TV using a controller.. Lol.  It's nice to see him finally excited about something, and it'll give him something to do while I'm crafting.  We share an office, so we'll actually get to craft together :-)

The best part was that he asked if he could USE MY CRICUT to create some stencils!!  That blew my mind!!!!!  Seriously.. who is this guy, and what have you done with my football watching, couch sitting, video game playing Hubby?!?!?

  1. OMG, Jessica, your story about your "hubby" was just toooo priceless. Ya know what? Your hubby and my hubster could be twins!!! Mine, tho, hasn't discovered the woodburning thingie, yet, or anything similar. Give him time! LOL

He would, tho, like to get into cabinet making but his tools are all over the place. Once he gets his shed built (maybe this summer), he'll be set to go! :-)

    1. Thanks Ladybug! I'm finding that my Hubby is really no different than anyone else's. Lol. Usually his "trend" though is to get all gung-ho on something, get all the stuff to do it, and then it lasts about a week before he looses interest in it. Lol.

    1. Lol!!!!! He's already snagged my Batman & Superman carts and planning away :-) I knew I bought those carts for some reason ;-) I asked him if he wanted me to do a "haul" video for him and I'd post it on my blog, but he ran out of the room like a bat outta hell. Normally he's not so shy. Lol. I've been trying to get him into blogging for a while now, maybe this is just the ticket to get him to actually do it!

    1. I think you're right about the aliens :-) Although, I may have to have some "words" with him if I ever come home and one of my "Babies" (a.k.a. Cricuts) were missing and I found it over on his desk! Next thing you know he's going to be stealing all my stuff and asking ME to go to J's with him. Ha ha ha
