It's Never Too Late...

Sometimes you design a card with no one in particular in mind, other times you have a specific person you try to design the "perfect card" for.  I think I hit the nail right on the head with this one.

My MIL's birthday is coming up, and she's far from the average MIL.  She is a hard-core music fan (definitely where Hubby gets it from),  was a DJ on the same radio station as my Hubby, as well as a "biker babe."  She got addicted to "Guitar Hero" on her Wii and likes to pretend she's a true rocker.  This card only seemed fitting, and the colors and papers screamed her name.  The sentiment on the front is "It's Never Too Late to Be A Rock Star."  Hubby about died when I showed it to him and said she's gonna FLIP when we give it to her.  I'm thinking so too!

Recipe:

  • Card Base: 5" x 6.5" pre-made card base from The Paper Studio
  • Decorative Paper: Pink Zebra from The Paper Studio
  • Solid Cardstock: Core'dinations Pink & Black
  • Stamps: Main image on front is from the CTMH "Hope" stamp set (retired), inside Happy Birthday is from CTMH "Say It In Style" (D1283), and the "Rock Star" and "Rock On" border came from a Studio G set I had
  • Inks: CTMH Blush (Z2106) and Black (Z2105)
  • Cricut Cuts: CTMH Art Philosophy (Z1686) <Rctngle3> cut @ 1 1/4" (White for the base, hot pink for decorative layer, and black for <shift>Decorative Layer
  • Embellishments: Bling rhinestones & black ribbon from stash
I printed the outside sentiment "It's Never Too Late To Be" on my computer and then stamped "Rock Star" underneath it.  I then cut it out using my Cricut and a lot of fiddling to get it cut properly centered.  I added some "bling" rhinestones from my stash to give it that finishing touch.

We usually celebrate Mother's Day and her birthday together, only giving one card and one gift.  This year, she'll be getting two cards and one gift :-)  I wasn't sure if I should make this her Mother's Day card or use it for her birthday, but the sentiment was perfect for her birthday.  Now the hard part is trying to do her Mother's Day card with the same "perfection."  Maybe I'll just go the classy "Mother" route for that one.  We'll see :-)

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a big announcement and some more details on my upcoming Mother's Day Blog Hop hostessed by Creations By Pink E.  I've got some goodies to share and an opportunity you're not going to want to miss :-)

Happy Monday Everyone!
